Internet Marketing - Doing business online the right way

Never underestimate the power of internet marketing. Now that almost 500 million people around the world already have internet access, internet marketing is poised to be the biggest thing in promotion. Take advantage of the low costs and high effectiveness of internet marketing and see how it dramatically changes your business!

Keep in mind that internet marketing is very different from traditional marketing you learned in business school. Internet marketing requires different approaches for it to be effective, but once you get the general ideas, you are on your way. Here are some tips:

1. Narrow it down. Determine your target audience and design your internet marketing campaign around them. You can easily do this be developing target-specific content and design that is highly relevant to the audience you want to reach.
2. Use email for internet marketing, but be cautious. The email is probably your most direct and personal channel to your target consumers, but beware! You could fall into the trap of spamming. Internet marketing experts advise that you use email in a more ethical way – build your own email list and let your clients subscribe and control the frequency and types of mail they would like to receive from you. Avoid sensing shotgun messages – if you keep your emails short and relevant, people are most likely to read them.
3. Have high quality content. Providing a lot of information resources is one of the best strategies in internet marketing. If your site has high-quality write ups and useful links, readers are likely to remember and (and maybe even add you to their browser ‘favorites’).
4. Have ‘real’ customer support. Internet marketing can only do so much – it is nothing without quality products and after-sales support. Even if you successfully get your products out on the web and reel in high traffic, people will not buy from you if you don’t have solid customer support system. Deliver on your internet marketing promises by providing either live help, a working feedback center (via email), or of you can afford it, even a call center.
5. And finally, plan ahead before jumping into any internet marketing campaign. Set attainable goals and reasonable time frames – remember that effective internet marketing does not make miracles over night! Be patient but persistent, and keep tabs on both your progress and difficulties so that you can evaluate them and adjust your internet marketing plan accordingly.
